Description: The 2010 edition of the
Guide, along with its two annexes: Annex
1 - Best Practices, and Annex 2 - Best
Practices for Small Railways were
drafted through the collaborative
efforts of the Railway Safety Act review
SMS Working Group. The Working Group,
which included representatives of
Transport Canada, railway companies,
railway unions, provinces and the
Railway Association of Canada, was
formed in 2008 to respond to
recommendations 17, 18 and 24 of the
2007 Railway Safety Act Review,
concerning the implementation of SMS.
