Dear Brothers and Sisters,

At our June regular monthly meeting Division 320 moved to support this young man in reaching his dreams. You can follow Evan’s blog (address on page two of this document) as he cycles across North America. A motion was passed to donate the equivalent of $.02 per kilometer. We donated half up front, and half at the end of his journey.

We respectfully ask all of you to have a look at his blog, and consider helping him in obtaining his goal.

In Solidarity,

Murray Douglas

Biking North America

Evan Moore, (son of TCRC Division 320 member - Locomotive Engineer Pat Moore of CP Rail, Port Coquitlam), is raising awareness and funds for Eagle Ridge Hospital here in the lower mainland of B.C.

Evan was born December 27, 1991 and very proudly states “I am a B.C. boy through and through. I have had the privilege to be raised in a community like Port Coquitlam my entire life. I hear from everyone that this is one of the most beautiful places on earth so I am excited to see other places to confirm that.”

On June 25th, Evan will embark on a North American journey, starting across Canada, and then heading south towards Key West. No funding has been supplied by anyone, except Evan himself. Quite an accomplishment for a young man of 18.

Here is an e-mail from Evan regarding his journey, and his dreams:

“Impossible is Nothing”

“This quote from Terry Fox says it all. The trip that I am undertaking is no small feat and is by no means going to be easy. This trip will take me roughly a year, and will encompass a total of approximately 23,000 kilometres. The first stop will be Newfoundland 3 months after I depart from Vancouver. After that it will be down to Key West and along the bottom of the United States. Once across I will make my way back up the western seaboard to Vancouver.

This trip is about two things, making a difference in my community as well as personal growth. Every penny donated to the trip will go directly to Eagle Ridge Hospital’s emergency unit which has helped me and many others on their worst days.

We are raised from a young age being told to follow our dreams. It seems though a lot of the time we are told our dreams are to outlandish and not attainable; then those dreams are left at that. I want to show all the dreamers out there that with hard work and a lot of effort dreams can come true. If you want something to come true you cannot accept no for an answer. I hope that with your support we can help to spread the word and make a difference in our local community”.

Evan hopes to raise $1.00 for every Kilometer he rides. I think together we can help him achieve that goal, and then some. Here is a link to his blog he has set up for those of you who may wish to follow him on his trek, or send him well wishes. If you wish to help Evan realize his dream, a link to contribute is on his blog page.

Thanks from Evan Moore, just a young man, trying to fulfill my dreams!
