Negotiations at CN: A Remarkable Teamwork Effort
“I am pleased with the results of the negotiations,”

Negotiation update #16
As we advised you yesterday, a tentative
agreement has been reached. It is a three year agreement with wage
increases of 2.4%, 2.6% and 3% fully retroactive to July 23, 2010.

CN Negotiations Update
Monday, CN finally filed its
first official proposal since July 27, 2010 – two months ago - with
the representatives of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference. The
company’s demands, disguised as productivity and customer service
improvements, would require employees to work many more miles each
month and their tours of duty would reach the maximum number of
allowable hours.

A press conference was held this
morning at the headquarters of CN in Montreal. Fifteen journalists
were present.
The Teamsters Union invites the media to meet CN's negotiation
committee
The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference—currently
negotiating to renew the collective agreement for CN train
conductors, yardmen and rail traffic coordinators—invites the media
to meet its representatives at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in front of
the rail carrier's Montréal-based head office.
Is CN inevitably heading toward a work stoppage?
Everything now appears to depend on CN’s
attitude: Will the company show itself willing to bargain in good
faith or will it persist in wanting to impose unacceptable working
conditions?
CN is provoking its workers to launch a strike
After only a few days of
bargaining, it seems that the Canadian National Railway Company (CN)
is bent on provoking its workers to launch a strike, regardless of
the insistence of the union to pursue discussions.
