CP Rail crews are on the scene
with heavy equipment near Vemilion Bay as they clear away 17 grain
cars and proceed with fixing the track after a derailment Monday.
No injuries have been reported and there's been no risk to the
neighbouring community, according to Mike LoVecchio, CP Rail's
senior manager for media relations.
The cars left the tracks around 10 a.m. Monday, but there weren't
any regulated chemicals involved, LoVecchio noted. The crew of 25
staff cautiously ventured to the site over icy roads Monday and
they've cleared the intersection at Waldhoff Road.
"All things considered, the recovery is progressing well," he said,
adding they've appreciated the understanding and patience of
surrounding residents.
